Hounslow Council has welcomed the Mayor of London’s announcement that the London Living Wage (LLW) will increase from £10.20 to £10.55 per hour.
Cllr Katherine Dunne, Cabinet Member for Communities and Workforce at Hounslow Council, said:
“I am very proud that the council has been an accredited LLW employer since 2012, ensuring that all our staff are receiving fair pay – especially when many households have been finding it hard to make ends meet. Our major contractors are also LLW-accredited, and we build this in to any new partnerships.
“Yesterday’s announcement by the Mayor is very welcome, and we are continuing to honour our commitment to pay the increased rate to all staff, as we believe it is important for staff to earn a fair wage for the work that they do.
“I am particularly pleased that from April, when the new pay rates are implemented, Hounslow staff will actually be receiving more than the LLW, as our lowest pay rate will be £10.71 per hour, underlining our commitment to the council’s workforce.”
The LLW will be incorporated into the new pay rates for local government staff in London in April 2019
