Hounslow is firmly on the map when it comes to finding the UK’s best-informed young consumers.
Pupils from Lampton School, Hounslow beat off tough opposition to emerge winners in the London Regional Finals of the Young Consumer of the Year competition.
The event is organised by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute along with trading standard officers from local councils, including Hounslow Council.
Students from the Lampton Road school were tested on consumer law and rights as well as general knowledge, which they passed with flying colours.
They were comfortable winners in the local heats before going on to the London Regional Finals, where they fought off competition from London boroughs including Islington, Southwark, Lewisham and Greenwich to bring home the coveted trophy.
The victorious team of Jaivir Gupta, Aleksandra Pudlo, Shray Khanna and Arjan Nagi, all aged 17, will now compete in the London National Finals on 9 and 10 June.
Councillor Richard Foote, Cabinet Member for Community Protection, Hounslow Council, said: “Well done to the students from Lampton School for showing their great knowledge in this competition.
“We wish them luck for the national finals in June and I am sure whatever the outcome, they will do Hounslow proud!”
