Hundreds of families flocked to Feltham Park for a fun-packed Super Saturday of Sport event at the weekend.
An array of sports and activities were enjoyed by all ages, from cricket and table tennis to tai chi and Chair Yoga.
The new Mayor of Hounslow Councillor Ajmer Grewal, attended the event – supported by Hounslow Council for the second year running – and also got involved in the many activities on the day.
Pioneer of Freerunning and Parkour, Sebastien Foucan, led sessions on the popular past-time. Freerunning incorporates movement using apparatus, like climbing frames and routines are designed to build up fitness.
Local clubs were also in attendance, including The Feltham Old Offenders, which is a walking football team, Feltham Swimming Club and Ashford Hockey Club.
A number of free taster sports sessions were also well received, with families able to try beach volleyball, hockey, plus Frisbee throwing and athletics with the Brentford Community Sports Trust.
Councillor Grewal, the Mayor of Hounslow, said: “It was wonderful to see families enjoying themselves and trying all the different sports and activities together.
“We had local clubs and council services on hand to give advice on fitness and health, so it had a bit of everything for young and old.
“Events like these bring everyone together in the community and Hounslow Council is committed to helping everyone get healthier and fitter while having fun.”
The One You Hounslow team was on hand to give residents information on how to make lifestyle changes such as exercising more, drinking less, eating healthier food and help on giving up smoking.
As well as giving out advice and information, the One You team along with the Mayor, held a dance flash mob – a short routine of dance movements performed by a group of people – with younger residents to promote the fun side of getting fit.
One You, one of the largest Public Health England campaigns to be launched since Change4Life, offers advice and information through a dedicated website and online service, as well as telephone and face-to-face support.
