Are you with a ‘social entrepreneur’ with a great retail business idea that could bring a buzz to Brentford High Street and lead the way in further enhancing the local retail offer? If so, we are offering you a unique opportunity to set up business in an upcoming part of West London.
As a social entrepreneur you will be expected to have a robust plan, the drive and resources to launch the enterprise and a commitment to building social capital in a variety of ways. You will also be expected to engage with local residents/businesses and to create a financially sustainable service, which attracts customers from near and far into Brentford.
The business would ideally fit the planning class of the unit which is A1, but could speculatively apply for a change of use. The premises (presently branded ‘Brentford Works’) are not suitable for hot food take away use.
We offer the following benefits to the successful entrepreneur:
- Well-presented retail unit with High Street frontage
- Rent Free development period
- Business Support
- 80% business rates relief if constituted as a charity
- Council start-up grant if constituted as a charity and ready to contract to deliver specific social outcomes over first three years – and ideally beyond
The deadline for expressions of interest has now been extended to 8th January 2015 (midday) and shortlisted applicants will have to provide detailed business plans by 26th January 2015 and make a presentation to a selection panel on 28th January
