Hounslow will be welcoming the world as a proud host of Rugby World Cup 2015. Ten of the tournament’s matches are being staged at Twickenham, the home of English rugby, which is on the borough’s doorstep.
Rugby World Cup 2015 is the third largest global sporting event. Between 18 September 2015 and 31 October there will be 48 games at 13 venues. More than two million fans in total will watch the matches in stadia across the country and in Cardiff, with an expected global TV audience of more than 4.2 billion.
Hounslow is looking forward to giving a warm welcome to the many hundreds of thousands of fans at Twickenham from around the world.
The borough is also hoping Rugby World Cup 2015 will encourage more local people to take up the sport. Rugby is already popular in Hounslow schools, but the council hopes the tournament will inspire more youngsters to get involved and join a local club as well.
How will Rugby World Cup 2015 affect your business?
Tuesday 7th July 2015, Holiday Inn, Brentford Lock
Session 1: 8am – 10am
To find out more about the challenges and opportunities posed by Rugby World Cup 2015 this autumn, Hounslow Council invites you to join us and speakers from England Rugby 2015, the RFU and the police for an informative briefing and Q&A session.
“As a local pub and restaurant, I found the Rugby World Cup business briefing really useful. It was especially
helpful to find out about how the road closures will be different to a usual rugby day. Plus it was good to hear
about the opportunities for businesses the Tournament offers. Well worth getting up early for!”
