One hundred per cent of Hounslow’s pre-schools and day nurseries have been graded outstanding or good in recent Ofsted reports.
Hounslow Council’s Early Years and Childcare service said of the 76 Pre-School and Day Nurseries two of them, Kingsley Road Pre-School in Hounslow and Cisco Day Nursery, in Bedfont, respectively, were evaluated as outstanding in their first inspections.
Overall, 74 per cent of the borough’s pre-schools and nurseries were deemed good and 26 per cent outstanding.
In recently published reports, Ofsted praised a number of areas in the Pre-School and Day Nurseries and found:
- Leaders and managers are inspirational and the quality of the provision through self-evaluation is exceptionally effective.
- Staff prioritise children’s communication and language development. They implement extremely effective methods to help all children make very good progress.
- Staff encourage children to become independent and inquisitive learners.
- Staff have established extremely effective partnerships with other early years services.
The Council’s Early Years and Childcare Service has also seen an increase in the numbers of free early learning and childcare places taken up by children aged two years from less advantaged backgrounds.
There has also been an increase in the percentage of children achieving a good level of development at the end of reception year. Hounslow is equal to the national average with 69 per cent.
Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, Hounslow Council, said: “This is fantastic news. The outcome of recent Ofsted reports on our pre-school and nurseries in the borough is something everyone should be proud of. It shows the hard work that pupils, staff, parents and guardians and staff across all the services have put in, so well done to them.
“Learning in a safe and happy environment is critical to all our children reaching their potential and achieving their academic and vocational goals.
“Hounslow Council pledged to invest in education for our local children so they have the best start in life. These Ofsted reports and assessments of pupil’s development show that our schools and nurseries are helping to provide brighter futures for our children and give them the best of opportunities.”
