The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has announced that Boston Manor is one of 13 Tube stations which will be made step-free by spring 2022. The initiative is part of a £200m investment to make Tube travel more accessible.
Councillor Amrit Mann, Deputy Leader of Hounslow Council said:
“We welcome Transport for London’s (TfL) plans for investment in the borough and recognise that making Boston Manor station step-free will make a real difference in improving access to public transport for our residents.
We consulted with the Council’s Disability Community Forum to ensure residents’ voices were heard and made the recommendation to TfL that improvements should be made at a number of stations across the borough.
We look forward to receiving further clarity and a firm timeline for the much-delayed Piccadilly Line upgrade and given Hounslow’s proximity to Heathrow, we would welcome more step-free access on Piccadilly Line stations, particularly Hounslow Central, Hounslow West and Hounslow East.”
