Hounslow Council said today its position on possible expansion at Heathrow remains the same – it wants a better not bigger airport.
Leader of Hounslow Council, Cllr Steve Curran, said: “We remain determined in our battle for a better not bigger Heathrow. This means better protection from noise now for our schools and thousands of residents who live under the flight path.”
Cllr Curran was speaking after a report on its three favourite options to expand airport capacity in the UK.
The commission said the costs of building more runways have been underestimated.
Cllr Curran said: “The costs for better protection from noise pollution also needs to be part of the equation too.”
The commission is now inviting formal submissions and has called for businesses and the community to submit these through its website.
