Hounslow Council is the freeholder of Hounslow Heath golf course, however the site has been managed by a company called Parpost.
As the contract was heavily subsidised by the council and is no longer sustainable, the contract will now be terminated. From 30 September 2016 following changes will apply:
- There will be no vehicle access to golf course as the golf course car park at Staines Road entrance will be closed and secured.
- All golf activities will be terminated and the golf shop will no longer be available
- Public access will be maintained through the rights of way
- Site will be maintained and kept secure throughout closure
Councillor Corinna Smart, Cabinet Member for Public Health and Leisure, Hounslow Council, said: “
“The council is facing challenging financial times and we need to make sure our resources are invested primarily for the benefit of the community.
“This change will allow us to manage the site more efficiently. The site has been subject of a planning application from a leisure operator and the planning process has not been concluded.
“Hounslow Heath golf course is not being considered as a traveller’s site and will need to remain closed until the outcome of the planning process is clear.
“In the meantime, we are in discussions with the local community and stakeholders to explore the best options for improvements to help shape the future of Hounslow Heath together.”
