Hounslow Council has successfully been reaccredited with the Investors in People status.
The accolade has been awarded again to the council for the way it has continued to meet the Investors in People standard on a consistent basis.
To do this, the council has had to demonstrate commitment and a high standard in areas such as supporting the development of its employees and their roles and recognising that people appreciate and value time spent with their managers to discuss development.
The new WorkSmart programme introduced at the council is also widely respected by staff who are now enabled by new technology to work more effectively and flexibly. The report also found that council staff are accepting of change and believe the council is a fair and decent employer.
Councillor Richard Foote, Cabinet Member for Communities, including HR at Hounslow Council, said: “I’m delighted that that our council has once again been accredited as an Investors in People organisation.
“The assessor’s report made it clear that despite ongoing financial challenges and many continuing changes to structure and ways of working, the council remains absolutely committed to its staff and their development.
“It also identifies areas of development for us, in mentoring, continued professional development, management capabilities, recognition and wellbeing. I will be working with council officers to ensure we follow up with actions to improve further in these areas.
“We now accredited for a further three years and I believe it is good for not only our staff, but for the expectations we all have of this council.”
