Hounslow Council Careers Coach

A new service for Hounslow residents who are looking for work or want to improve their career prospects opens for business next week (13 July).

The Careers Coach is a specialist employment and training service delivered via a converted truck. It takes the service out of the traditional office environment and onto the streets of Hounslow.

The state-of-the-art mobile office, fully equipped with Wi-Fi and nine computer stations, offers on-the-spot CV, careers advice and employment and training information to people in and out of work.

Part of the Work Hounslow employment and training offer provided by Hounslow Council, this latest service will initially be based weekly in Hounslow and Feltham town centres. Residents can drop in and speak to an advisor, or arrange to make an appointment for more tailored advice. There is also specialist support for young people wanting to find out more about apprenticeship opportunities.

As well as help with job searches, Careers Coach staff will suggest suitable vacancies for residents who are looking for work, as well as how those in work could increase their earning potential and take the next step in their career with free training.

Councillor Sue Sampson, cabinet member for communities, said: “We’re committed to helping local people secure local jobs. Careers Coach is the latest addition to our Work Hounslow offer.

“From opportunities at Heathrow to the growing digital and media sector we have in the borough, we want our residents to be best placed to secure local jobs. By offering free training and employment advice we can give them the skills they need to secure work or improve their career prospects.

“The Careers Coach is available to anyone, regardless if they are in or out of work or whether or not they receive benefits. Perhaps you’d like to find out about ways you can progress your career or are looking to get back into work after a career break. The Careers Coach can help you with this and more.”

Drop in to the Careers Coach and find out more about what they can offer you – no appointment needed:

Mondays (starting 13 July), Bell Square, Hounslow, 11:30am-4:30pm

Wednesdays (starting 15 July), The Centre (car park), Feltham, 11:30am-4:30pm.

The Careers Coach has been funded by Brentford-based Sky and Hounslow Council.
