First Tango in Hounslow

Bell Square in the heart of Hounslow became London’s latest Latin Quarter when the capital’s newest outdoor arts space hosted a sultry night of Tango.

The square, which is at the western end of Hounslow High Street, was the scene of an amazing sixty minute dance, music and pyrotechnic show of Argentine Tango by the renowned French theatre company, Bilbobasso.

Hounslow Council leader, Cllr Steve Curran, who attended the night, said: “It was great to see such a good turnout and what an event to launch Bell Square! Bell Square is just the first of several exciting regeneration projects beginning to happen in Hounslow, including the renewal of developments at Brentford Football Club, Hounslow’s High Street Quarter and a new vision to rejuvenate the Golden Mile – it’s a sign our borough is brimming with opportunities.”

Brenda Emmanus, BBC London’s art, culture and entertainment correspondent, who hosted the event said: “It was a spectacular show and it’s fantastic to see an arts event outside the West End, Shoreditch or South Bank so well attended. More of this and Hounslow will be one of west London’s hippest hangouts!”

This performance is the start of a number of events at Bell Square which include an award winning World War II dance show by Moxie Brawl; an ariel performance by Dream Engine; the hugely popular Big Dance Bus, and Gigs, the Mayor of London’s showcase for buskers from all over London.  Details of the full programme can be found here.
