NLA on Location: West London – The Heathrow Effect

June 1 @ 9:00 am - 4:30 pm

£358.80

DESCRIPTION

With major infrastructure projects including Crossrail and the expansion of Heathrow set to transform swathes of west London, areas such as Southall, Brentford and Ealing Broadway are responding to the enhanced inter-connectivity with large-scale intensification across a number of sites.

Able to significantly contribute to the densification of the capital, the developments taking place here will be key to the regeneration of area at large – so what steps should be taken to ensure Ealing and Hounslow get the best possible outcomes from an expansion of Heathrow? Examining the opportunities and challenges, this On Location event will discuss what is needed to maximise development potential across the area’s town centres, Housing Zones, brownfield land, and examine the impact of new transport routes on the viability of residential and commercial projects.
A morning conference session will examine the key planning, development and delivery opportunities in the area. Following a networking lunch, delegates can enjoy afternoon tours to examine development areas in further detail:
Tour A: Southall
Led by Carol Sam, Regeneration Manager, and Aimee Freebody, Project Officer, LB Ealing

Explore how this town centre is evolving prior to the arrival of Crossrail, with Housing Zone status and Berkeley’s large-scalerenewal of the old gasworks at Southall Waterside.
Tour B: South Acton
Led by David Colley, Regeneration Manager, LB Ealing
Lauded as an exemplar scheme for estate regeneration, visit the South Acton estate halfway through its comprehensive regeneration project, with schemes designed by HTA, Alison Brooks, Stitch, Maccreanor Lavington, PCKO Architects and Levitt Bernstein.
Tour C: Brentford
Led by Brendon Walsh, Executive Director Regeneration, Economic Development & Environment, LB Hounslow
Visit major schemes taking place in Brentford, including the Sky Campus, Brentford Community Stadium, Brentford High Street and Brentford East, underpinned by an emerging masterplan for the iconic Golden Mile.
In association with LB Ealing and LB Hounslow
