A million pounds is to be spent improving transport links to Hounslow town centre, it was announced today.
Hounslow Council was awarded £1 million by Transport for London (TfL) to enhance links between Hounslow High Street and its nearest tube and train stations.
The money will be spent during 2015/16 improving connections from the town centre to Hounslow East and Hounslow Central tube stations and to Hounslow train station.
The council was also promised £50,000 to make bus stops more accessible and £150,000 to promote sustainable travel.
The cash is part of £148m funding confirmed today by TfL for local transport improvements across the capital.
London’s transport commissioner Peter Hendy said: “This funding will help continue to deliver real improvements to communities in London.
“We are working in partnership with London boroughs to deliver hundreds of transport projects that will benefit local communities and all road users whether they are pedestrians, cyclists or drivers.
“Public squares and shopping areas will also be rejuvenated, attracting more people to those areas and boosting the local economy.”
